Week 3- hardware components

A main component of running a successful business is to have a computer system that functions properly and is efficient. The different parts of the computer will be important in maintaining an effective way of both tracking and keeping records of financial aspects of the business.
There will be more than one computer in my establishment; one in the front that acts as a cash register and one in the back that acts as the financial component .The computer’s memory is critical in my business. The amount of memory that the main computer (back) will need to have is 2 GB to 8 GB; this is because we will be running various number intensive accounting programs.   The memory that the cash register will need to have is 2 GB- we will not be using this computer as the number crunching one so it will not need to be able to hold as much information.
The Central Processing Unit is also very crucial in running a successful business because it carries out the basic instructions that operate the computer. More importantly, the arithmetic log unit within the CPU needs to be functioning at all times because this performs arithmetic comparisons that are needed to run the business.

excel-week 2

Being proficient in excel will really help maintain, organize, and predict the financial aspects of the restaurant.  In order to keep track of the operating budget, and all the components that make up the operating budget, it will be much easier to record and adjust numbers if you can use excel.  Pivot tables will help assist in seeing how many transactions we have on a monthly basis. Additionally, they will help see how much we owe our vendors.  Charts will be useful in comparing month-to-month spending and earnings. We will be able to adjust how we spend according to the graphs.
Another helpful aspect that excel will help our business with is monitoring how well our marketing and advertising techniques work. There will be a system where we can track how many people come in due to our tweets and ads in various places. This will then be recorded in excel and we will be able to see which tweets and ads bring in the most customers. It may be difficult to find a way to track how many people exactly come in due to the social media and advertisements, however we will still be able to monitor the increase or decrease in business via excel.
Overall, with the use of excel in our restaurant it will be much more efficient and we will be able to alter our ways accordingly.

Week 1- Twitter

My entrepreneurship idea is to create a make-your-own burrito restaurant. I am a hospitality management major, so this directly relates to the field I want to pursue in the future. The restaurant will be informal- you have the option to stay and eat or take it to go. I got the idea from my favorite frozen yogurt place in New York City- 16 Handles. 16 Handles has the same idea in that you dispense the yogurt and put the toppings on yourself. I really like this idea because whenever I go to Chipotle they never make the burrito the way I want it. This way you can customize the burrito with everything you want and however much you want. At the end of the line there will be someone to wrap your burrito- in case you need help. Then you will place the burrito on a scale to see how much it weighs; depending on what kind of meat you get you will be charged accordingly.
In relation to social media, more specifically twitter, we will have an active twitter account. We will use the twitter account to supply customers with daily specials and coupons. This will make people want to follow us on Twitter in order to save on their food. Another good idea is to have a “salsa of the day”. Everyday of the week there will be a different salsa and people can find out about what the salsa of the day is by following us on Twitter.
We can also you the twitter account to follow other competitor restaurants; this would be helpful to know what other restaurants are doing to get more business.  Since this is a unique idea there isn’t much competition, however, quick service restaurants like Chipotle and Qdoba are in the same type of business.  It is very important to know where competitor restaurants stand and to make your restaurant stand out, which can be successfully done via twitter.
